Join Detroit Young Professionals (DYP) on Friday, November 6th as we host local young executives and cultural enthusiasts at "Art After Dark", a sophisticated after-work soirée to be held from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA).
For more than a century, the DIA has housed one of the largest, most significant art collections in the world. With the 2007 completion of a $157 million renovation and expansion, thousands of works of art have been reinstalled in beautiful new galleries - which are now 30 percent larger, including a three-story addition to the South Wing and critically-acclaimed new amenities.
Mix, mingle and share intelligent conversation with other art-loving movers and shakers from across Metro Detroit. Explore the museum's vast art collection and flex your creative muscles along the journey with various drop-in activities like sketching and photogram-making. Treat yourself to a live musical performance in Rivera Court by the innovative alternative music collaboration of Vic Chesnutt with members of Silver Mt. Zion and Fugazi. And venture through time with the 200-piece special exhibition, "Richard Avedon Fashion Photographs (1944-2000)", to see how the legendary photographer revolutionized editorial fashion work for magazines in the post-World War II era. Complimentary dessert treats and a cash bar will be available, with an exclusive afterglow to follow the event at a nearby lounge.
